Situated in New Jersey’s Robbinsville Municipality, the sanctuary is potentially the second biggest after Angkor Wat in Cambodia, a UNESCO World Legacy site spreading over 500 sections of land.
The Swaminarayan Akshardham sanctuary in the US has been planned according to the old Indian culture. There are more than 10,000 sculptures and carvings of Indian instruments and dance structures at the sanctuary.
Other than a principal holy place, the sanctuary has 12 sub-sanctums, nine shikhars (tower-like designs), and nine pyramidal shikhars. It likewise has the biggest curved vault of conventional stone engineering.
Almost 2,000,000 cubic feet of stone, including limestone, rock, pink sandstone, and marble, was utilized for its development. They were obtained from various regions of the planet, including India, Turkey, Greece, Italy, and China.
At the sanctuary, a conventional Indian stepwell called the ‘Brahma Kund’ has water from more than 300 water bodies across the world.
