Türkiye Sets Agricultural Export Record with $36.2 Billion in 2024

In addition to its economic success, Türkiye’s agricultural sector is positioning itself as a reliable and sustainable global partner. This is being driven by strategic trade agreements, climate-friendly policies, and eco-friendly production practices. Local processing of agricultural products also helps extend shelf life and reduce costs, enhancing Türkiye’s competitive edge in the international market.

The U.S. and Germany emerged as key destinations for Turkish agricultural products, with the U.S. importing $429.4 million worth of fruits and vegetables and Germany purchasing $247.3 million in dried fruits. These figures underline the strength of Türkiye’s agricultural exports in major international markets. Istanbul and Izmir were the leading cities, contributing substantially to the national export numbers.

Türkiye’s strategy focuses on ensuring long-term sustainability and growth in the agricultural sector. Efforts to improve quality standards, adhere to climate-friendly policies, and embrace eco-friendly production methods are central to the country’s vision of expanding its agricultural exports further. Notably, Türkiye has been enhancing its position in the European Union market through efforts to align with the EU’s Green Deal.

With a target of reaching $40 billion in agricultural exports in the next few years, Türkiye is making strides to cement its role as a major global supplier. Initiatives by the Turkish Exporters Assembly and various exporters’ associations are helping to increase the visibility and market share of Turkish agricultural products across key regions, including the Middle East, North Africa, and East Asia.

Türkiye’s agricultural sector continues to show impressive growth, with an eye toward sustainability and further global expansion. This record-breaking export performance reflects the country’s resilience and strategic investments in its agricultural industry.

“In the face of global challenges such as climate change and food security, Türkiye remains a reliable and sustainable supplier.”
