Georgia’s New Greenhouse Initiative to Transform Vegetable Production

The programme offers combined financing through grants and full interest coverage on loans from commercial banks. Beneficiaries can access loans ranging from ₾50,000 to ₾1 million, with grant funding capped at 30% of the loan amount. This support aims to foster local production, reduce dependence on imported vegetables, and bolster export opportunities.

The programme offers financial support in the form of grants and interest rate coverage on loans, aiming to reduce the financial burden on new greenhouse projects. Loans can range from ₾50,000 to ₾1 million, with grants providing up to 30% of the loan amount. This dual approach is designed to make greenhouse farming more accessible and financially viable for local producers.

In addition to supporting local farmers, the initiative seeks to address import dependence by boosting domestic vegetable production. It is anticipated that the increased production capacity will contribute to greater export potential, particularly during periods when local supply is typically low.

Overall, the programme not only aims to enhance Georgia’s agricultural output but also to improve economic resilience and food security by fostering local production capabilities and reducing reliance on imported vegetables.

The “Georgian Vegetables from Greenhouses” programme is a strategic move to modernize and expand Georgia’s vegetable production. By providing comprehensive financial support and promoting advanced farming technologies, the initiative is poised to strengthen local agriculture, reduce import reliance, and enhance export opportunities.

“Georgia’s new ₾25 million programme, ‘Georgian Vegetables from Greenhouses,’ seeks to boost local vegetable production by supporting modern greenhouse technologies and financial assistance for new projects.”
