The bombing of a market in Sudan’s capital left at least 35 people dead

At least 35 people were killed and more than 60 injured in a bombing at a market on Sunday in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum.

According to Médecins Sans Frontières, popularly known as Doctors Without Borders, explosive devices were used to attack the Gorro market in Khartoum, Sudan, on Sunday at around 7 a.m. The group, which dubbed the assault “carnage,” is helping victims who suffered severe injuries.

A nearby market was attacked with explosive weapons, leaving 35 people dead and more than 60 patients injured in Khartoum’s battle, which has been going on for almost six months.

The latest violent act in the ongoing conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, which is the result of a power struggle between SAF Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and RSF chief Abdelrahim Hamdan Dagalo, is the explosion.

The U.N. claims that more than 5 million people have been forced to flee their homes as a result of the war. Abdelrahim Hamdan Dagalo has been sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury Department for allegedly committing human rights violations, such as ethnic killings and sexual assault. The recent violent incident in the ongoing civil conflict between the two sides is the explosion.
