Holi Festivities are Prohibited in the Universities in Pakistan

Holi festivities are not permitted in universities in Pakistan. This occurs a day after a video of a Hindu religious holiday celebration at Islamabad’s Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) went viral on social media.

According to Geo News, a large number of kids attended the Holi celebration that took place earlier this month. A video of students celebrating the occasion was posted on a Twitter account for Quaid-i-Azam University.

Holi Festivities are Prohibited

The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) has highlighted the significance of higher education institutions (HEIs) in fostering the development of young people who respect Islamic cultural and moral values.

Based on Pakistan’s culture, beliefs, and traditions, the commission has been developing policies and priorities to improve the higher education system while upholding the country’s ideology.

  • Pakistan bans Holi celebrations in universities following viral videos.
  • Pakistan’s HEC emphasizes HEIs’ role in promoting Islamic values.
  • Commission aims to improve Pakistan’s higher education system, preserving ideology.

The panel is worried about events like Holi celebrations, which demonstrate a break with the nation’s sociocultural norms and a weakening of its Islamic identity.

The commission’s primary duty is to enhance Pakistan’s higher education system by incorporating the ideas deeply established in Pakistani culture, values, and traditions, eventually safeguarding the country’s ideology.

While involving students and faculty in academic pursuits, intellectual discussions, cognitive learning, and extracurricular activities, the commission recommends HEIs stay away from activities that are inconsistent with the nation’s identity and societal values.
