Major AWS Outage Hits Crypto Platforms: Binance, KuCoin Struggle to Recover

On April 15, Amazon Web Services (AWS) experienced a network interruption that severely impacted a range of services. Among the most affected were major centralized crypto exchanges like Binance and KuCoin, which were forced to temporarily suspend withdrawals. This caused significant disruptions to user transactions and platform functionality.

The AWS outage was not limited to exchanges alone. Several decentralized applications, including wallet providers like Rabby and DeBank, were also impacted. As AWS struggled with connectivity issues, users on these platforms experienced difficulties with transaction processing and accessing services.

Binance was one of the first to report the issue, confirming that some orders were failing due to the disruption. However, they reassured users that withdrawals had resumed shortly after the issue was identified. Despite that, some users continued to face problems with their trades.

AWS later provided an update, stating that they were seeing “initial signs of recovery.” They indicated that the issue was being closely monitored and that they expected to have full services restored within the next few hours. Crypto exchanges and other platforms affected by the outage are working to resolve ongoing service disruptions.

The AWS outage has highlighted the vulnerabilities in the crypto ecosystem‘s reliance on centralized cloud infrastructure. While services are being restored, the event serves as a reminder of the potential risks associated with such dependencies.

“Connectivity issues with AWS have caused widespread disruptions across multiple crypto platforms, leaving users in limbo. This has reinforced the fragile nature of centralized cloud services within the crypto space.”
