Tangier Drug Operation: Authorities Seize 41,000+ Psychedelic Pills, Arrest Four

In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Tangier police, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), seized over 41,000 psychedelic pills and arrested four suspects. This operation is part of Morocco‘s intensified efforts to combat the distribution of psychotropic substances. The suspects, aged between 36 and 62, were detained in coordinated raids across Tangier.

The initial arrest that led to this significant bust occurred in Sale, where an individual was found in possession of nearly 10,000 psychotropic pills. This arrest triggered an investigation that revealed the existence of a broader criminal network operating out of Tangier. Authorities acted swiftly, conducting simultaneous raids that culminated in the arrest of four additional suspects.

During the raids, police confiscated a substantial amount of drugs, including 3,000 ecstasy tablets and 38,120 pills of Rivotril and Trankimazine. Additionally, they seized sums of money believed to be linked to the drug trafficking activities. The ongoing judicial procedures aim to unravel the full extent of the suspects’ criminal activities and histories.

Morocco’s successful drug control efforts have recently been recognized internationally. In April, the country was re-elected to the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) for a third term, underscoring its reputation for security and effective drug enforcement. Jalal Toufiq’s election to the INCB highlighted Morocco’s growing influence in global drug control initiatives.

The recent drug bust in Tangier highlights Morocco’s dedication to combating drug trafficking and maintaining national security. The successful operation and subsequent arrests underscore the effectiveness of coordinated law enforcement efforts.

“Morocco’s successful bid reflected the kingdom’s reputation for security.”
