A crucial meeting is scheduled between Gambhir and BCCI officials, including secretary Jay Shah, on June 18 to finalize the details. This meeting is expected to confirm Gambhir’s position and outline the terms of his coaching tenure.

Gambhir has expressed a strong desire to coach the Indian team, emphasizing the prestige and responsibility of representing over a billion fans globally. His experience as a player in India’s 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup victories adds to his credentials.

Currently mentoring the Kolkata Knight Riders, Gambhir’s coaching contract with the national team is projected to run from July 2024 to December 2027. This period will cover all three formats, aiming to bring a new strategic approach to Indian cricket.
