Israel disputes Hamas’s accusations that Israeli soldiers were kidnapped in Gaza

  • The Israeli military refuted allegations made by the armed wing of Hamas.
  • The Israeli Defence Forces have clarified that there is no incident in which a soldier was abducted.
  • Based on new proposals with active U.S. involvement, negotiations will open based on those proposals.

The Israeli military refuted allegations made by the armed wing of Hamas that Israeli soldiers were abducted by its fighters during the battle in Jabalia, northern Gaza. The spokesperson gave no evidence to support the assertion and did not state how many soldiers were taken hostage.

The Israeli Defence Forces have clarified that there is no incident in which a soldier was abducted. Hamas released a video allegedly showing a bloodied person being dragged along the ground in a tunnel, along with photos of military fatigue and rifles.

Israel-Hamas War

Hours after hopes for a mediated restart of Gaza ceasefire negotiations increased on Saturday, the remarks were made. The Israeli military has denied claims made by the armed wing of Hamas that fighters lured a Zionist force into an ambush inside a tunnel, leaving all members dead, wounded, and captured.

Following the chief of Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency meeting with the head of the CIA and the prime minister of Qatar, an official with knowledge of the matter announced that talks would resume next week.

Negotiations will begin based on fresh suggestions made by Egypt and Qatar, the mediators, with active participation from the United States.

Rejecting suggestions from Israeli media that negotiations would pick back up in Cairo on Tuesday, a representative of Hamas stated that “there is no date.” Even after more than seven months of fighting in Gaza, the mediators have not been able to negotiate a breakthrough.
