As their trucks were set on fire by Israeli settlers, Palestinian truck drivers bringing aid to Gaza have recounted “barbaric” sights. This is because the settlers have prevented help from getting to the area, where a large portion of the population faces famine.
Videos of Israeli settlers allegedly hurling boxes of desperately needed supplies on the ground and setting at least one car on fire surfaced on social media, sparking widespread condemnation of the incident.

Supplies organizations have reported that Israeli restrictions on supplies into Palestinian territory are to blame for the starvation conditions they have reported in some regions of Gaza.
According to humanitarian officials, Gaza’s population only receives a small portion of the 500 lorryloads of food, gasoline, and other necessities that are required daily. The Israeli troops accompanying the convoy observed the settlers going on a rampage from a distance.
The convoy consisted of between 50 and 60 lorries, according to 26-year-old Yazid al-Zoubi. He said that the Israeli military did nothing but watch while the settlers went on the rampage on Monday.
When the settlers began puncturing the tires and smashing the windscreens of the lorries, the situation got out of control. They then climbed on top of the cars and began throwing food packages into the road.
Dozens of Palestinian truckers have refused to deliver goods to Gaza due to the fighting. A haulers’ union member from the West Bank named Adel Amer told Reuters that the attack had damaged roughly 15 vehicles, with a total estimated damage value of £1.6 million.
Israel’s allies strongly denounced the strike on Monday, with UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron and US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan calling it a “total outrage” and “appalling.” According to Israeli police, an investigation is underway into the event that resulted in multiple arrests.
