The 1,187 graduates of the Qwaqwa Campus celebrate receiving their degrees

1,187 students at the University of the Free State (UFS) Qwaqwa Campus got their degrees on April 12 and 13, 2024, symbolizing the achievement of years of hard work and commitment.

Dr. Phumzile Mmope, the guest speaker, imparted timeless truths to the UFS class of 2023 while highlighting the value of lifelong learning and the transforming power of education.

The graduation ceremony included a beautiful tapestry woven from great achievements and different origins, in addition to academic distinction. A distinguished PhD in Theology was awarded to Archbishop Thabo Makgoba in recognition of his outstanding contributions to public service.

Thirteen PhDs were conferred, demonstrating the university’s concentration on research, and the university acknowledged the diversity of backgrounds and accomplishments. Due to strict time management and self-discipline, Dr. Matanki Mabaleng completed her PhD in Education Management and Leadership in two years, demonstrating extraordinary dedication.

Prof. Prince Ngubeni, the campus principal, described the ceremonies as “uplifting” and a representation of the university’s Vision 130 dedication to graduate quality.

The graduating class was a representation of South Africa’s diversity and showed how education can heal social divisions. Families and friends could virtually join in on the graduates’ happiness thanks to a live webcast that guaranteed worldwide involvement.

At the 2024 UFS Qwaqwa Campus graduation, each graduate’s limitless potential, desire, and resiliency were honored in addition to their degrees. The UFS Qwaqwa Campus community applauded them and looks forward to their beneficial influence on society.
