With at least 46 people murdered in a mudslide and flash floods in Maai Mahiu town, heavy flooding across Kenya has left at least 91 people missing. Over the course of the last two weeks, the floods have left numerous buildings devastated and left 169 Kenyans dead, according to official reports from the Interior Ministry.
The floodwaters have affected four counties: West Pokot, Homa Bay, Tana River, and Nairobi. 102 individuals have been injured throughout the impacted areas, with four deaths recorded each in the counties of Garissa and Homa Bay.

Since there may be more persons trapped in the muck, search and rescue efforts are ongoing in the Maai Mahiu villages of Kamuchiri and Jerusalem.
About 150,495 people have been impacted by the 30,099 households that have been displaced thus far. There have been 161 displaced households in Sindo, Homa Bay County. According to government estimates, natural disasters have had an impact on 190,942 people. Kenyans should prepare for increased rainfall in the upcoming weeks, according to the Kenya Meteorological Department.
The flooding is not limited to Kenya; it has also caused temporary closures of roads and railroads in Tanzania, Burundi, and Uganda, three neighboring countries. Kenyans are advised to maintain their vigilance and abide by any safety directives given by regional authorities.
