The German Football Association (DFB) reports that manager Julian Nagelsmann of Germany has extended his contract to the end of the 2026 World Cup.

In September, Nagelsmann took over as Germany’s coach from Hansi Flick; he had originally committed to a term that would expire until Euro 2024.

Despite having a difficult start to his rule, he recently defeated France and the Netherlands in back-to-back friendly. Before the Euros, where they will play Scotland, Hungary, and Switzerland in the group stage, he will play two more practice matches with Greece and Ukraine in June.

Together with his coaching staff, Nagelsmann voiced his delight about the chance to sweep a whole nation. There had been rumors that he was being linked to Premier League and Bundesliga managerial positions.

Nagelsmann’s decision to stay as national coach beyond the home European Championship is a clear indication to both the DFB and the national team, according to DFB President Bernd Neuendorf.
