Muslims throughout the world observe Ramadan, a holy month of fasting that falls on the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. In Saudi Arabia, the month starts on March 11, and in India, it starts on March 12.

For Muslims, the duration of the 29–30 day period is an important observance that includes prayer, fasting, charitable giving, and introspection. One of the Five Pillars of Islam, along with Sawm (fasting), Salat (prayer), Zakat (almsgiving), and Hajj (voyage), is Ramadan.

Ramadan Greetings

Send messages, quotes, and wishes to those you care about during Ramadan. A few examples are: “Here’s wishing you and your family Ramzan Mubarak, may Allah be with you!”; “May Allah bless you with happiness and prosperity!”; ” I hope Ramadan gives you the motivation and fortitude to conquer any obstacles.”

During the nearly four weeks and two days of this holy month, all adult Muslims are required to keep a fast. Those who are elderly, pregnant, menstruation, traveling, or have diabetes are a few exceptions.

For Muslims everywhere, the first Taraweeh prayers of Ramadan mark a crucial juncture in their spiritual unification. Long passages of the Quran are recited throughout these prayers, along with several rounds of prostrations.

Thousands of Muslim worshippers congregate in Times Square, New York City, to start the holy month. Some are flying Palestinian flags in support of people in Gaza. All around the world, Sunni Muslims do this rite.
