The women’s national floorball team of Singapore finished 12th out of 16 teams in the Singapore Indoor Stadium World Floorball Championships (WFC), achieving their best-ever result.

They placed the same as in the 2019 edition, even though they lost 1-13 to Norway in the match for 11th and 12th place.

This improvement also compares to their 2021 WFC finish of 14th place and their 2021 10-team competition result of last place in Frederikshavn, Denmark).

Finishing second in their group, the hosts, who had won two of the first three matches at the OCBC Arena, lost 2-3 to Germany, the world‘s ninth-ranked team. Singapore lost 3-4 to Japan in the ninth and tenth place match of the play-off for the quarterfinals, and 11-2 to Slovakia, the world’s sixth-ranked team.

Siti Nurhaliza Khairul Anuar pulled a goal back in the second half, but Singapore was badly outclassed against Norway from the outset.

With so much community outreach and awareness on the part of the Singapore Floorball Association, veteran forward Amanda Yeap hopes that the next generation of floorballers will carry on the tradition of bringing pride to the nation. Finland will face the reigning champions, Sweden, in the WFC final on Sunday night at the Indoor Stadium.
