The leading candidates for the 2030 World Expo are Rome, Busan, and Riyadh, with the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) getting ready to cast its vote in Paris.

Rome’s bid includes designs for the largest urban solar park in the world and a green corridor that would link the Expo site to important historical sites such as the Appia Antica.

To support its bid, Busan, South Korea, has invited well-known cultural figures like Psy and BTS. The city is highlighting its AI and 6G technological capabilities to draw millions of tourists and create jobs.

A major marketing campaign has been launched by Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; it includes extensive advertising throughout Paris and an exhibit called “Riyadh 2030” that is located near the Eiffel Tower.

A rich history of uniting nations to exhibit technological advancements and cultural achievements can be traced back to the World Expo. Since the Expo’s founding in 1851, it has served as a venue for the introduction of ground-breaking inventions like the Eiffel Tower, the light bulb, and roller coasters.

With the next World Expos scheduled for Osaka in 2025, the outcome of the impending vote will determine the direction of the event’s rich history.
