According to a report by The Information, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman will not be returning to lead the company. Instead, Emmett Shear, the former CEO of Twitch, will take over as interim CEO.
The co-founder of Twitch, Altman, left the company earlier this year. According to the report, Altman was invited by interim CEO Mira Murati to join executives at the company’s San Francisco headquarters, along with former OpenAI President Greg Brockman.

In addition to enhancing the governance structure of the ChatGPT bot company, Altman is talking about the possibility of returning to the organization and exploring the possibility of starting a new artificial intelligence project.
Current and former employees were incensed by Altman’s dismissal on Friday, as they were concerned about the potential effects of the abrupt management change on an impending $86 billion share sale.
On Sunday, Brockman, the co-founder and former president of OpenAI, also showed up at work. Microsoft, the company’s largest supporter, is thinking about joining the board if Altman rejoins OpenAI. He could do so by either sitting on the board of directors or by serving as an observer without voting rights.
