China claims to have the fastest internet in the world

  • China has launched the fastest internet network in the world.
  • The network can transmit data equal to 150 high-definition movies in less than a second.
  • The new network is more affordable and simpler to operate than a superfast train track.

With 1.2 terabits per second of data transmission capacity, China has launched the fastest internet network in the world.

China Mobile, Tsinghua University, CERNET.com Corporation, and Huawei developed the project, which can transmit 150 films per second and is over ten times faster than most current internet systems.

Fastest internet

A vast network of optical fiber cables serves as the next-generation internet backbone that links Beijing, Wuhan, and Guangzhou. Officially inaugurated on November 13, the optical fiber cabling was turned on in July.

The project, China’s Future Internet Technology Infrastructure (FITI), has been under development for the past ten years, and the high-speed internet system is a component of it.

The superfast line is not only a successful operation, according to Wu Jianping, the leader of the FITI project, but it also provides China with cutting-edge technology to construct an even faster internet in the future.

The network can transmit data equal to 150 high-definition movies in less than a second, according to Wang Lei, vice president of Huawei Technologies.

The new network is more affordable and simpler to operate than a superfast train track. For China, which used to worry about its reliance on the US and Japan for routers and other internet technology components, it is a huge advancement.

Except for the technical research team’s superfast router and technology that combines multiple optical paths to increase data transmission limits, all hardware and software used in the system are produced domestically.
