Eighty Indian fishermen are freed from prison by Pakistan

  • Eighty Indian fishermen were freed from the Malir district jail in the Landhi neighborhood of Karachi today.

Eighty Indian fishermen were freed from the Malir district jail in the Landhi neighborhood of Karachi today by the Pakistani government. The bulk of them are Indian citizens of Gujarat.

On November 10, a train carrying eighty Indian fishermen who were detained by the Pakistan Marine Security Agency in 2021 will arrive at the Wagah border and be sent back to their respective home states. The Porbandar families of the fishermen are happy to hear that they have been freed.

Ninety-nine of the fishermen who have been released come from Gir Somnath district, fifteen from Devbhoomi Dwarka, one from Jamnagar, two from Amreli, and three from Diu.

Pakistan had previously freed 398 fishermen in May and June. 266 fishermen were detained in Pakistani jails, according to the most recent statistics presented to Parliament by the government. There will be about 180 Indian fishermen in Pakistani jails following this release. Gujarat, Desh
