October’s stock market holidays will see the BSE and NSE closed

  • In October, the domestic equity market will be closed for 11 days, including Saturdays and Sundays.
  • On October 2, the MCX will be closed for both the morning and evening sessions.
  • on October 24, just the morning session will be open.

In October, the domestic equity market will be closed for 11 days, including Saturdays and Sundays. To observe Gandhi Jayanti on October 2 and Dussehra on October 24, respectively, the stock exchanges BSE and NSE will be closed to trade in the equities, equity derivatives, and securities lending and borrowing (SLB) divisions.

On these days, the commodities market will also be closed for holidays. On October 2, the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will be closed for both the morning and evening sessions, and on October 24, just the morning session will be open.

Stock market holidays

Two holidays—Diwali and Guru Nanak Jayanti—will be observed by the stock market in November. The Hindu holidays of Diwali Balipratipada and Guru Nanak Jayanti will be held on November 14 and 27, respectively.

The time of the special “muhurat” trading session, which will last an hour on November 12, has not yet been determined. A special session known as muhurat trading is held by the BSE and NSE to commemorate Diwali, a holiday that is 56–57 years ahead of the Gregorian calendar.

Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti is on October 2, Dussehra is on October 24, Diwali Balipratipada is on November 14, and Christmas is on December 25, 2023, according to the calendar of holidays for that year.
