Hindustan Infralog Private Limited, a partnership between DP World and the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund, has been granted a concession by the Deendayal Port Authority to build a container port in Tuna-Tekra close to the current Deendayal Port.

The concession has a 30-year Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) term with a 20-year extension option. The container port will be equipped with cutting-edge technology and a 1,100m berth that can accommodate new 18,000 teu-vessels when it is finished in 2027.

Future trade demands from Northern, Western, and Central India will be met by the terminal, which will also link those areas to international markets.

The terminal will be crucial to the government’s ambitious plan to turn India into a “Exports Hub” and assist the growth of direct and indirect jobs in several industries, including supply chain, distribution, and transportation.

In India, DP World currently runs five container terminals with a total capacity of about 6 million TEU. The installation of Tuna Tekra will increase DP World’s total capacity to 8.19 million TEU.

The terminal will fully adhere to green port regulations, ensuring sustainability in port operations and helping India’s government achieve its long-term sustainability objectives.
