At First Republican Debate, Vivek Ramaswamy steals the show

  • The first Republican primary debate of the 2024 election cycle, contenders sparring for 2 hours in Milwaukee.
  • Ramaswamy was the only candidate to support the conflict in Ukraine.
  • The second debate for the Republican Party will take place in Simi Valley, on September 27.

The first Republican primary debate of the 2024 election cycle included eight Republican contenders sparring for two hours in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and featured prominently the businessman of Indian descent Vivek Ramaswamy.

Ramaswamy, who is making his maiden run for public office, attracted attention for his remarks regarding the conflict in the Ukraine, Donald Trump, and climate change. Ramaswamy managed to stand out in the discussion despite trailing Trump significantly in the polls by making a self-deprecating introduction and talking about his parent’s immigration to the country.

Ramaswamy was the only candidate to argue against additional support for the conflict in Ukraine and advised that the US first straighten out its own house.

In addition, he condemned the US for backing a war in another nation while it had its issues. Ramaswamy also referred to the global warming agenda as a “hoax” and referred to fossil fuels as “essential for human prosperity.”

At the GOP debate, Donald Trump was a contentious topic because most candidates backed him despite his several criminal charges in different lawsuits.

Ramaswamy has frequently complimented Trump as the best president of the twenty-first century and promised to pardon him if he wins the election.

Ramaswamy also suggested civics tests for aspiring voters and called for the dissolution of the Department of Education. The second debate for the Republican Party will take place in Simi Valley, California, on September 27.
