An official announced here on Tuesday that the Film Federation of India (FFI), the nation’s top body for all film organizations, has requested submissions from Indian films that may represent the nation’s entry for the 96th Academy Awards this year.
The nominations for this year’s Oscars are available for 25 days, from August 15 to September 10, according to FFI President Ravi Kottarakara.
96th Academy Awards
Our films are making a name for themselves on numerous international platforms, including the Oscars, and India is set for yet another fantastic year in the film and entertainment industry. The Oscars last year were won by India thanks to “RRR” and “The Elephant Whisperers,” Kottarakara said.
He announced that the FFI would soon designate a chairman of the jury for the Oscar submission in addition to other well-known figures from the creative industry who will serve on the panel.
Between September 15 and September 25, the jury will screen all the movies up for consideration for this year’s Oscar nominations in Chennai. The panel will then select the nation’s final entry, which will be revealed on September 26.
As India’s official entry to the 96th Academy Awards, for which the FFI will provide all assistance, Kottarakara also urged filmmakers to join in big numbers to get nominated.
The movies must be released between December 1, 2022, and October 31, 2023, and they must be shown publicly for at least seven consecutive days in a for-profit theater, among other conditions for the International Film Feature category of the Oscars.
