Indian and Romanian immigrant deaths are connected to a river body

As members of an Indian family attempted to enter the US illegally in March, eight migrants drowned in Canada, including the remains of a man connected to the investigation.

Casey Oakes, who was last seen operating a boat among the bodies of two migrant families, passed away in March.

The victims were identified as Pravin Chaudhary (age 50), Dakhaben Chaudhary (age 45), their daughter Vidhi (age 23), and son Met (age 20) by their relatives in India.

When Oakes vanished on March 29, he was 30 years old. On July 3, his body was discovered in the St. Lawrence River close to Ross Island, but it took some time for authorities to positively identify him.

The following day, when the bodies of six persons, including a two-year-old kid, were discovered in the water, his family reported him missing.

The following day, two more bodies were found. The victims, according to the police, were attempting to enter the US. Oakes’ identification was just verified by the coroner’s office.

The inquiry into Oakes’ murder and the drownings of eight foreign tourists who were traveling across the river on boats is still ongoing.
