Storms in Charlotte Cause Hundreds of Planes to be Delayed

By Monday afternoon, Charlotte Douglas International Airport had more than 350 flights that were delayed and 47 that had been canceled due to storms that were developing over North Carolina and other east coast states.

Flights to New York and New Jersey were delayed by rain and thunderstorms for more than two hours, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

Hundreds of Planes to be Delayed

According to FlightAware’s Misery Map, there were around 100 canceled flights and 150 delayed flights at New York airports.

There were three of them: Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), and LaGuardia Airport (LGA).

  • Charlotte area receives dangerous weather warnings, severe thunderstorms expected.

Up until nine o’clock at night, the National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for New York and portions of Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Additionally, it issued a dangerous weather warning for the Charlotte area early on Monday. From 4 p.m. to the end of the day, expect severe thunderstorms, it stated.
